I made this post in the mod section shortly before I stepped down. It was the reason I went in the end:

    L3Txbxc.jpg

My attitude about ideas very quickly went under the rug when senior staff members didn't even reply to this post addressing critical things about the mod position. Everyone had read it within the first day of it going up. Kai, I think you actually replied first on that one, followed by Cheespuff. Conor didn't, and it also took a while for Frostie to come in.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've willingly asked to help this community with tech stuff. It is fair enough if my help was never wanted, but not fair to say I didn't try.

I was shocked by the outcome then, and utterly demoralised at any hope for this community if things carry on the way they do.

I didn't give feedback on this particular topic as I wanted to see all the moderators who would actually reply and give feedback and for the most part Kai and Cheesepuff had already summed up everything for me. Anything else I wanted to discuss on in I waiting for the admin meeting where we went over it although beforehand in your 1on1 I discussed this with you...

Also if I just promoted my friends I would of promoted cheesepuff ages go, I've discussed with you during your 1on1 What improvements I wanted to see from you but you stepped down beforehand. When you were mod you never once said you wanted to do x server or else you would've been given server tech access to do something.

The fact is the community leaders have wasted a lot of cash on a dedibox, which yes it was a good investment when jailbreak was busy and we used to get ddossed every 10 minutes, but for over a year now we haven't had a sustainable server and the amount of money that was put into a dedibox was wasted because nothing was being done even when people offered their services.

Overhaul it costs about an extra £20 per month to have a Dedicated server as it hosts everything (TS, Gameserver/s and the Website) rather than the alternative of having a separated TS Server, 1 Single Gameserver and Website. The total Donations throughout 2017 only covers 5 months and everything past that was paid by myself, the possible "wasted" money as you say was my own but as I was still receiving DDOS notifications emails a couple of times a month was worth it for me, having the protection from any and all DDOS attack and the freedom to have a dedicated event server while if had paid seperately each month for this server would have costed more than the Dedi.

In May we opened Minigames to try and get people back into CSGO custom servers doing something fun while additionally throughout the summer I tried to get as many Tournaments. After the summer in September because we didn't have any dedicated sustainable server, I created up the Warden system to try and get anyone that wanted to actually help and create a server could, which only 2 people every actually applied.

One of those ideas we tried out, we created BR Server in November however there was still a lot of people asking about Jailbreak we decided the next focus would be a Jailbreak server. I focused on this and spent a lot of time trying to refresh it a bit more for players that had already spent a lot of time on Jailbreak and mix things up a bit more for them. It released over the winter period which was fun and interesting yet still having that nostalgic feel for the first couple of months but by third month most interested dried while PUBG really started to take off in the community (Before it got cucked by fortnight ?)

So many people say they want to help but when it comes down to actually devoting time to anything it's usually only ever 1 or 2 people that end up being reliable, Hell... still awaiting a response for suggestions for Outbreaks 6th Birthday event ? I've tried to get feedback on what servers you actually want to see from but for the most part people are playing games that just don't need a server.

But in the end it is up to you if you don't want to not try something or not, I do Hope you do try out though but in the end can't force you.

  3. The Discord Trial plan.

    1. Finish setting up channels and permissions (This should be done very soon)
    2. Alpha testing (This should start in the weekend)
      1. I'll create a sign up for this if you want to help out with this. (If you've previously used Discord it'll be helpful)
      2. This will be to fix any bugs or issues that may arisen and try and iron out any kinks.
      3. Once everything is checked to be working as it should, we'll review any suggestions that alpha testers may have.
    3. Beta Testing (We would like everyone to at least try it out with an open mind)
      1. This will be an open test for everyone to try Discord for Outbreak.
      2. We will be listing for feedback during this week, making changes/fix/updates as it goes along.
      3. This should last around for around a week.
    4. Review and Final decision
      1. A form will be created where we'll get feedback and what your preference of VOIP service would be.

Following feedback should it be decided that discord is not for us, funds would be needed to be raised for a 1 Year's rental of a Teamspeak Server. With a quick google search prices can range from around £150-£250 for 1 years rental with 100 slots.

Probably missed something but that's it for now, if you've got any question just ask and I'll try to answer them.

Sound quality is a big factor. One of the reasons I dont like the idea of discord for OB is that voice and text channels are separate, and that there is a permanent stream. I don’t want WhatsApp with voice, I want to log in and log out in sessions.

Discord actually uses the same sound codecs as TeamSpeak now.

@Jak Isn't Mintlou right and the sound quality been updated? It moved to Opus 1.2 in January have you tested recently, I'm not an audiophile as much as you would definitely be, have you tested recently?

voice and text channels are separate - I really dislike this as well but I've already been looking at a discord bot that should remedy this so that when you join a voice channel it gives to read and send access to the associative text channel.

permanent stream - There's a permission to disable reading message history, which from a quick test it works the same way Teamspeak does. You can read messages that you were there from but nothing else and when you leave the channel you can't read or send messages which were sent after you left.

So we could do this for most of the channels to have an associate Text Channel and then have some separate text channel our just for a Global chatting. We can also set Prune X amount of messages.

I didn't respond to you straight away Jak because I wanted to actually test and check the above beforehand.

  5. I asked Discord info to get passed onto to give you guys a heads up before any official announcement... So glad about that...

As mentioned all away back in March Update we've been investigating changing our host as *throughout 2017 to Present, donations have only been able to pay half our server costs and the rest has been paid by me up until now* (less than half now) and as everything has is currently hosted on the Dedi when it goes down everything will. It'll end up being like it was 2012 era with separated hosting for the website and anything else.

So as multiple people have asked for Discord throughout the multiple threads over the past year or so, Why not try it out during to Hosting transition period then after a week or so getting feedback to what people think, whether people like it or whether there need to be improvements or you prefer to return to Teamspeak.

Should it be the latter and people want to return to Teamspeak, then Outbreak would need to be able to fund it. So whether everyone who can chip in does and we do it that way. And maybe we add some extra privileges on TS for those people (Though not sure what we'd add but for reference Pay4admin won't happen)

Personally for me, Discord has both positives and negatives and I'd like to at least say we've tried it out.

As mentioned in the latest update post, we'll be doing a vote for the next server that we're going to be doing. The first being a Competitive styled CSGO server and Second something different, that isn't on CSGO. For the second server, it may not work out and we may also end up changing it later down the line but it should be something completely different that we've not really tried before and will be interesting to try out.

We'll be doing a vote via Google form where you shall select the server then give a reason for your choice, please put as much reason to your choice as you can.

    Hey Everyone,

Time for another update on Outbreaks current future plans and ideas.

    New Server's Vote

We'll be doing a small vote for the next Outbreak servers, we've decided to try and do two servers. The first being a Competitive styled CSGO server and Second something different, that isn't on CSGO. For the second server, it may not work out and we may also end up changing it later down the line but it should be something completely different that we've not really tried before and will be interesting to try out.

    Possible Host changes

We're also investigating changing our current Host setup. We currently have a Dedicated server for all our needs (Teamspeak, Forums and GameServers) which has been used for whenever Outbreak has needed a second server for events and tournaments without any additional costs. Throughout 2017 to Present, donations have only been able to pay half our server costs and the rest has been paid by me up until now. With this change, there may also be changing to the Warden Programme as we may not be able to provide a server for suggestions.

    Non-Server based Event/Small Tournaments

Alongside our possible Host changes we may not have the ability to do as many events that need a dedicated CSGO server and as such, we'll be looking into do more events that don't need one. Some of the possible ones that we have considered doing could be small-scale tournament style events for games like Worms, Rocket League, Poker, GolfIT and Age of Empires. While doing these type of event we'd like to try and get more people involved in deciding what event we should try out next.

    Final Note

Finally congratulations to one of our newer Moderators on being promoted to Senior Moderator. He has excelled in his role and has gone above and beyond to ensure tasks within the community are getting done. Throughout these past few months, he has been proactively supporting me and the community using his own initiative. He has been responsible for directing multiple choices for the future of the community with the assistance of the Admin Team and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. So a big congratulations to Frostie.

    All the best,

    Sir_Conor & Admin Team.

A: Banning people from a CS pug system because of a League Tournament??? Let's start banning people from Playing Football cause they cheated in a video game.

B: The hub has a different disciplinary system, ran by different people.

C: Denting the player base of the hub because of unrelated incidents in unrelated games using unrelated formats will drive it to death.

From your points, firstly with A and it's example of "Let's start banning people from Playing Football cause they cheated in a video game." For me seems illogical to try and use to justify it because these are Community event bans to discourage people from signing up and and ending up not playing for whatever reason that may be. It doesn't matter about what game it is at all and doesn't a way to argue your point.

B is completely true but while C is also a possibility of happening but just like we give out event cooldowns limiting our playerbase for potential events that said players could want to get involved in but hopefully after being punished player don't give bad to no notice to event hosts, that players have an understanding that if they commit to an event they could make all effort to turn up and not just fuck it off last minute.

Not that I'm actually in favour of pushing for event cooldowns on the csgo hub system, I just didn't like the most the reasons you gave when there are much better ones that you can give. ?

*Sent from phone while I was bored in work

  9. Firstly, regarding the "But CS Event didn't get punished why are they?" I didn't manage the CS tournament, I simply was to assist with the server Tech and related questions that Kai had. I personally think that anyone who breaks the Event Cooldown rules, deserves to be punished for it. It's just up to the Event Host to interpret the rules, and to decide who actually deserves to be punished for it.

Now onto Pasickle and Joji, they gave me absolutely no notice. Supposedly Pasickle had asked someone to pass a message along (which really isn’t good enough), but getting told by Pepe 5.30PM when the event starts at 6.00PM wasn’t particularly helpful.

Extinct claimed he gave me a week’s notice, telling me that Danny and he wouldn’t be able to play. However, this ‘week’s notice’ was actually two pokes (no attempt to follow up via Steam, the forums or any other medium), and receiving no response from me. I only saw these pokes AFTER by searching through my TS records (I had been testing disabling my sound notifications for streaming). Whilst this might scantily just come under the umbrella definition of ‘week’s notice’, it’s kind of like saying that Rustlers come under the umbrella of a flame-grilled burger i.e it’s kind of true, but it’s mainly just shit.

If I had signed up for a tournament but had to leave for whatever reason, I would at least make sure 100% that the event host definitely knew. If the event host didn't respond by my first poke, I would NOT just assume he’d seen it and taken it on-board. I’d tell my captain, or drop a message on the forums (either post on the thread, or PM). Or I would join them in Teamspeak for 5 seconds, to confirm they know. I would make absolutely certain that the event hosts had received my messages and knew the score, because I know how fucking chaotic events are when people: A) don’t turn up, B) don’t communicate. We’ve had a couple of stars in this thread who’ve managed to achieve not just A but B as well!

I’ve spent a significant amount of my personal time on this tournament, which I’m not sure is really appreciated by anyone who doesn’t manage a full-time work-life, as well as a part-time university course, alongside the extra responsibilities I assume in running OB*. I’ve been chasing up every single person in this tournament, on Teamspeak, the forums, Steam etc. I chased and chased until I was 100% certain people had got my message. If I could do this for all of you, me, one person, for all of you, why could you not do that ONE thing for me, given all that I was doing to put on an event for your benefit.

After I’d chased everyone, I’d then do a final check to see everyone was signed up to Battlefy, by again messaging everyone via TS and the forums. In addition, I also asked their captains to check if their players were signed up.

For the picking phase, I had created Google Sheets documents to help team captains know everyone’s role preferences, rank etc in an easily digestible format. Spending some time testing out streaming, before giving up most of my weekend for the actual tournament, as well as managing the tournament, which whilst not sound like a big deal for some of you guys who are still in school or uni, but get back to me when you’re working 40 hours from Tuesday-Friday, with me at college on Monday for my IT course, alongside assignments. It’s actually quite tiring - weird, I know.

I gave IrishChamp a tournament ban, and two normal event bans, because even with the an actual week’s notice, it was after I had checked everybody’s availability and set-up the teams. That’s the result for Irish out of the way.

Now for the rest of you: you all receive 2 tournament bans, and 3 event bans because you didn't give me any notice. This completely fucking broke the balance of the teams, and pretty much twatted the tournament. The reason the punishment is this severe is not just because of the disrespect you guys have shown to me for the effort put in, but also the absolute lack of a shit you seem to give about the people who actually did turn up, but whose tournament you played a huge role in twatting.

*I’m happy to do this, but I’d appreciate a bit more understanding from certain members, particularly from members who are certainly much more time-rich than I am.

IEspecially if there is a prize for first place which we have and if there is an increase in players to the new gather system we could increase prizes and it would motivate people to play more and potentially be apart of the community.

Outbreak needs to make some money not pay for it. The only way prizes would be made if the player did them.
