Throwing the ownership of the community around isn't the solution however I think this thread raises some important issues.
Do we need change?
Yes, the community is completely stagnant.
Will change work?
We don't know, there are no exact plans for what this change actually is.
How can we make it work?
If you have a plan for the future of the community then I'd suggest typing it up and posting it on the forums, apply for a server warden or moderator role and then carry out your plan. Good ideas will resonate with the community and will increase community activity.
I haven't seen anyone try to take a lead on anything in a while except for the current admin team. That being said I do wish they would be more open with everyone about what their plans are and how they're going to achieve them because it would stop the community becoming alienated from the team and they would be able to get help and ideas from the community.

I wouldn’t recommend Logitech, razer or Corsair for keyboards whatsoever. Much better alternatives for cheaper.

An idea of budget and needs would be nice.
Keyboard: what keys do you actually use, colours?
Mouse: what grip, do you need side buttons, wired/wireless?
Headset: do you want actually good sound quality or an all in one solution? On/over ear?

Captain Selection?
Basically, what process would people prefer for captains being chosen?
1. Role Selection - The current model, where I basically just assign everyone's roles based purely on our opinion on how good someone is.
+ Captains will in theory be as fair as the queue allows.
- Sub par players can get high on leaderboard from backpacking on good captains.
- Obviously bias
2. Leaderboard selection - Gives captain priority based on your leaderboard rank.
+ Completely unbias
+ Stops people from backpacking
- Can lead to ridiculously unfair captains where there is either not enough games played. Example, 1st game of a season Extinct wins with like Pasickle on his team. Then captains could be Extinct v Pasickle in the 2nd game. Which is just a free win.

I deleted the old hub, so people will have to join the new hub.
Few things still need to be sorted, but people actually need to be in the hub for it to happen. Tier assignments and etc.
Invite links are in the process if being handed out.
 
If there's anyone who wants to be a Moderator / Possibly Admin for the hub message me. General requirements will be -
- ~2 years in this community and be a member.
- Some short of recording software - Shadowplay for instance.
- The ability to be unbias.
- Active player
Powers - Banning players(with some discussion), able to manage live games for example cancelling games where it is needed(see in rules) and inviting players to the hub.
The current structure looks something like this -
Owner - Danny
Head Admin - Kai
Admin(s) - Craig(Mini), TBD, TBD (Looking for one or two more preferably)
Moderators - Flash, more TBD
Other roles include:
Tier 1 captains - Danny, Mini, Kai, Mike and possibly more. (will see who plays and not)
Tier 2 captains - Flash, a lot more TBD
 
The first Season of the New Hub, 17th January - 28th February. Will continue to be monthly afterwards.
Prizes -
1st -  AK - 74 Point Disarray - Field Tested
2nd - USP Orion - Minimal Wear
3rd - P250 See Ya Later - Field Tested
RULES
 
In game rules
Baiting to the extent of toxicity and harassment is unacceptable. Think about what you are saying and how much you say it. Do not flame players for how they play and how good they are, they are wanting to enjoy themselves. Being competitive is fine, needless raging is not. Refusing to cooperate with your team to the point that you are trolling and ruining the game for other players is unacceptable. No quitting gathers, ensure you have time before you commit to a game. Mass team killing and other forms of flat out extreme trolling are unacceptable. Other people being provoking is not an excuse to reply with toxicity, two wrongs do not make a right. You MUST be in the TS in the mix room with your teammates. ts.join-ob.com If you have anyone muted on your team during a gather, you will get a ban. Rules concerning the cancellation of games - Contact Mod+
-If a game starts, and one player disconnects before or during the Third Round of the game the team with the lost player has the right to ask a mod+ for the game to be cancelled.
-If a captain accidentally picks the wrong player, the games goes on.
-If a player in a game purposely ruins it, the result will stand. However the guilty player will be HARSHLY banned.
-If there is something wrong with the lobby, i.e IP not loading or Captains are wrong. The game will be cancelled and a remake will be made.
Unbans?
-For ANY unbans, some evidence HAS to be shown. Without any, unbans will not be considered.
In some cases, people will recieve the benefit of the doubt first time around. However, repeat offences will result in bans being longer.
On Rules that are too broad to cover
-Admins are allowed to give bans as they see fit. Depending on the situation, bans will be modified after they have been discussed with the rest of the admin team. Continuous arguing with members of staff can lead to an extension on already existing bans.
VAC
-If a player has a VAC in the past 365 days you will be immediately banned and blacklisted from the hub.
-Playing on alts of a VAC banned account will also be banned.
-Players with very low hours (for example players with 15 hours and 0 friends) will be treated suspicous and bans possible.
-Refusing to obey these rules can result in bans from gathers.
Additional Rules
Players must only have one active account on the hub. Smurfs/Alt accounts could ruin the competitive integrity of games.

Would it maybe be worth having a casual hub as well, with all skill groups allowed but without the competitive nature? I don't know whether the cs playing portion of the community would be large enough to sustain both (at least, based on the number of people who still play cs right now), but it would still allow people who haven't spent tons of time on the game to chill and have fun - like the old popflash gathers.

Throwing this out here, hub died after like 5 months due to various reasons.
People lost interest, no incentive, arguments, etc.
I'm back and I know there's some interest for the hub coming back, not sure if there's enough at this point.
What the intended hub will have/be -
Prizes, unsure how top heavy people would like it. Probably will be top 3-5. Depends. Help is always appreciated. Competitive Gather system. Monthly leaderboard system. What it WON'T have/be -  
Noobs - If you can't play Counterstrike to a reasonable ability you can't be in the hub. I had so many complaints last time around, nobody finds it fun when 1 person doesn't even know basic call outs or any sort of basic nade usage. Exclusively OB - The hub will be invite/application only, but people who have previously been regulars of hubs and friend of friends are allowed in. Trolls - Any trolling, especially early on is just gonna be banned straight up. If there's any suggestions or if you're interested let me know.

I hope everyone has had a good time over the holiday period, as it comes to a new year with Outbreak, we are looking to reengage the community focus through the use of game servers and community events. More information will be coming about this in the future, but as for now, I am proud to announce our upcoming server.
As many of you may have seen at the top of the forums, Outbreak now has a DayZ server. We are currently looking for, implementing, and testing mods as well as making changes to basic server settings to make the server more enjoyable for everyone. If anyone has any suggestions on what kind of mods they would like to see added to the server, feel free to post here. Any ideas that you think could make the server more enjoyable are appreciated, although not everything is possible due to the fairly new addition of the modding tools, and there not being a crazy amount of mods available. However, we can compromise and try to fulfill these ideas as best as we can with the resources we have.
If you do have any other suggestions for servers that you think could work in Outbreak, feel free to post them below.

Reason 1: people won't be able to literally SPY on you by hugging a corner of a wall
Reason 2: If the player base is built off of 3rd person players and the server is switched to 1st person a couple months into it, this would be a huge gamble in itself since the people who play in 3rd person would probably want it to stay that way.

Idea 2: separate server for 1st person
(sure this would split the player base but hear me out)
You could use this idea as a testing period per say, see which server gains more traction and if they both get a healthy amount of players then good, if one gets a significantly higher amount than the other (30-40 player difference), consider mainly focusing on the more populated server, at this point i'm assuming the players from the other server would have possible made an account on the forums so they would know the reason why the less popular server was closed down and they'd (hopefully) just move onto the other OB hosted server instead of moving onto a different server with similar settings (aka if they get on teamspeak don't be a cuck and drive them away).
