So, I saw this while flicking through facebook today. Decided to check out, and after the initial impression of wow this is pretty cool actually ended up spending almost an hour just flicking around different radio stations. It was actually so interesting to be able to just compare all these different radio stations across the world.
some of the things I heard
    - the radio station for Barrow in Alaska, population 4000, alerting people that one of Sal's huskies was missing and if anyone had seen it if they could please bring it back to her.
    - scrolling over the whole of Russia and just picking up "DAVAI DAVAI"
    - One of the Australian stations "G'DAY AUSTARILAAAAAAA, temperatures sitting around mid 20's today so not to warm....."
    - comparing the music difference between the LA stations to the ones in Nashville....LOL
    - Middle America basically just being preach church o clock.

hanyway, check it out guys and see what you find!

Tbf I do agree with the advertise part, getting it out there a bit more would be good.
Though I don't see why staff shouldn't be allowed the opportunity to take part in a free thing which gives little prizes? The only people who really should pass on prizes (and we have done that anyway) have been me and Conor, because we have everything. Credits, reserve slots and tidbits aren't given to all staff so I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to enter the draws.

Thanks for playing all! No event is flawless and there were certainly one or two minor issues at the beginning but it certainly seemed to run smoothly as we went along.
Special thanks to my co-hosts and @UnSeen for all their hard work and assistance to make this possible. And thanks to everyone who turned out and make the events what they are.

    Hey all
Although we do updates addressing issues and announcements somewhat frequently, some of you had requested that the monthly updates become more consistent (as previously they were only posted when there was key things to be said) and include other varied content about the on goings in OB. This update will just cover a couple of the changes that have took place recently. I will be writing it in my usual format as it's about the content anyway, I'm too lazy to jazz up the colours and it's always good practice for writing my UCAS!!! (ty lewis xo)
    - Surf: Down The Gallows
You will notice that the surf server tab is no longer at the top of the forum and most of you will know that it has been closed. Due to its lack of life and our want to focus on putting life back into JB before expanding once again, we decided to take it down. Whether surf will return or we'll try something else when it comes to it hasn't been decided and will be something we'll consider in time, but until we reach a point that we feel we can comfortably expand then it isn't something we'll address as what people enjoy changes. We wouldn't say Surf was a failure as it did have its moments and did well for a period of time, but the timing of a lot of its running was poorly coincided with other OB work, the lives of staff and the slight decline of JB. #RIPSurf2k16
    - Jailbreak: Jazz
Following on from Surf then, the main focus of OB at the moment is about putting life back into JB. Our community is a lot more than just JB as many of you know, hence why a lot of people are disinterested by the idea of playing the server - however it's where we bring in new people. Regardless of whether you are a 2k12er, 2k13er up to a 2k16er nearly all of us came through a gameserver that had that OB vibe and JB is our base format for that atmosphere. Bringing in new people is what it's about, we meet all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds and it's reeling them in to become a part of our group that makes us a community - more so than many other gaming groups. There has been a thread in the Outbreak Club (member/donator) section to discuss improvements and feel free to let any staff know or make a thread in the SnQ if you have anything. We're all here and we're a part of our corner, it's only right we all put our bit in as staff, ex-staff, members, regulars - already I have seen improvements and enjoyment on our server thanks to old faces popping up on JB so let's keep that going.
    - Membership: Expectations
Continuing on about everyone doing their bit, just a small note about the standards we want from members. We have a lax nature in this community (generally) and, especially on TS, the jokes and attitude is mostly centered around the banter. However on JB it comes to our attention, and this isn't to pick at individuals as a lot of people do it casually, that members often are reproachful (essentially being twats with blue names xo) and although intended as 'banter' it can come across as toxic. Members used to be considered the role models for regulars, they often would be the ones explaining things, creating that OB atmosphere so that the mods could keep everything moderated without having to also answer a million questions. This isn't about censoring what you do, but just think about how it can come across when you say/type it.
We also of course encourage activity from all of our members on all of our platforms, even if it's just popping in JB every now and then. Before the last couple of days, it was like 13 of the 60 odd non-staff OB members were also JB regulars - so you get the idea about how we need our members to also be that backbone for our server.
    - Mods: Applications
Moving on from member expectations (these transitions though), we will be setting up open moderator applications. By this I mean the applications will be open for an extended period of time and won't be working in the conventional manner, simply that each admin meeting we have there's a chance we might pick up individuals or we might prolong it to the next meeting and not pick anyone. It essentially gives people a lot of time to show their commitment if they are genuinely interested in becoming a mod (hence people who have no hours could reasonably pick that up for an extended period of time and have a chance) as well as giving us as staff the freedom to pick people out and give them improvements over time. Regardless, as regulars and members there's still a lot you can contribute to our community so don't worry about this too much - it's just there.
    - Promotion: Stinking Bonghead
This doesn't really follow on from the previous part as much as the others do, but you will have seen a new individual with a darker green name and S shield on TS. We're happy to congratulate Finnley on his promotion to Senior Moderator. He has been putting a lot of extra effort in on top of his regular moderating and we felt he had established himself well enough to take up the role, so best of luck to him in the new position.

That's about it for this post, thanks for reading (if you even did or can) and there are no strings on me

Well, I think it was always going to be a lot closer than we think, as with Brexit.
We're so exposed to social media, that, regardless of whether we read the news or not, that's where we see a significant amount of political opinions. Every article / status on Facebook for me personally is negative about Trump - anything positive (if there is anything) is instantly ridiculed and mocked. But in reality, social media is such a limited representation of voters. At face-value that's why both these results are shocking to a lot of us, because all we see all day is about how awful he is.
In part that's possibly why the exit polls suggested a Clinton win, with some experts suggesting that Trump voters were scared to admit they voted Trump. I think that's actually more due to the hate from the youth / left wing than being ashamed about voting for him. Although I don't think anything disastrous is going to happen, just to be moderately comfortable I'd have voted Clinton. That doesn't excuse the behaviour of the left wing. Aggressive and overtly hostile to anyone wishing to back Trump, much more so than Trump voters to democrats.
Expect some possible changes on abortion, gun rights and stuff - but really that's nothing for us to worry about. They are domestic issues, which the people have voted for in democratic fashion and we don't really have a right to complain about. I'm sure the U.S thinks our rape statistics are fucked up in comparison to theirs. On an international scale it's far more complicated than, again, social media makes out. Trump can't just nuke North Korea, without probably first confirming with the Army Generals, top officials and certainly the Secretary of defence.
It is more scary with the fact that the Republicans now control the Senate and HoR, but a lot of these representatives are unsympathetic on a fair few of Trump's views - just voting for him along party alliance lines. Yes, a lot of Americans want USA great again - confirming rights, securing better trade deals, getting back above China on an economic scale and even as far as getting rid of some immigrants. But in response to the initial question, I doubt a majority Congress would agree to declare war on Russia or China in the foreseeable future.
If Trump as he is now, a dick in personality, but hasn't done anything fucking crazy - just pleased a lot of Americans by returning to roots, I predict he retains the presidency. It's already easy enough for an incumbent President to carry on. The real battle-ground now will be 2024, unless something drastic happens.
It's pretty obvious the candidates weren't great. But Democrats probably fucked up more than the Republicans. I would have liked to see Joe Biden or even Patrick Leahy go for it, but if they didn't want to, not much you can do, even Bernie would have served better. I think a lot of the population was content with Obama - had a better candidate been up, I think democrats would have won tbh. For me, one of the most fascinating things is that the Libertarian party rose from 1 million votes in 2012 to 4 million last night; shows how shit the main party candidates were.
But yeah, tl;dr - no WW3, unless it's declared on the US, not really sure what's going on in North Korea and Russia.

I don't think World War 3 will happen anytime soon, I do feel sorry for minorities living in the US though.
Terrible election either way, trying to pick the lesser between two evils was always going to end up in a shit show.

Vets are shitlords, but also an important part of this community, having been its spinal column through bad times and good. Because of this, they are likely to be pretty entitled. I think most of us don't take our vet status seriously - it's more like a fun fantasy to indulge in. I do however think that some of us actually do take this seriously (not me/Weezy, that's for sure). The idea of grown men taking actual pride in having joined a forum/community a while ago is just beyond absurd.

But we do have a specific and cancerous sense of humour which is largely based on realising that we can get away with a bit more than we used to be able to, because we're aware we are a pretty integral part of the community. This humour also comes from the fact that we know each other extremely well, so we know what we find funny, which as it turns out post-McLovin rule, with its strict 'NO RACISM' rule, is revoltingly politically incorrect garbage.

Also, I think pretty much every vet has been either an admin or a moderator (excluding Jak). As a result, we kind of know how it feels for moderators dealing with difficult community members, but because we are revolting cunts, we use this to wind people up rather than displaying empathy. That being said (and I think this is largely true for vets), the one rule is do not get wound up. We know this, but I don't know if a lot of the mods are quite as aware. Also, I think (generalising here) that mods can feel quite under pressure from us, as if there is genuine anger and outrage, which there is sometimes, say following a ban, but largely we just do it for effect and humour. And if you do get wound up, it's like a red rag to a bull - the vets will charge (as we do each other as well).

Also, we are horrifically ironic/sarcastic - I think about 75% of the average vet conversation is sarcasm/irony, which we know how to interpret because we know each other extremely fucking well. Some of the current admino staff do not know us this well, so it's difficult for them to get to know us. For moderators/admins, one piece of advice in dealing with us mighty vets is to assume we aren't actually having a sincere go at you, and that any shit given is more about playing with your position of authority rather than any personal problem with you. Also, just try and talk with us normally - Daffy does this well, and it completely kills the troll vibe, and Unseen is fucking master diplomat. Even Conor and I talk sometime, and he's the biggest eyes of all!

Right now I think we're in a pretty annoying cycle, not too dissimilar from the relationship between poor black people and the police in America (though obviously OB TS is more important than any boring American shit). Poor black people in poor areas commit loads of crime, so cops are over-zealous in policing/shooting, which in turn creates outrage which then perpetuates the cycle. In the same way, I think over-zealous moderating results in some genuine outrage, which in turn prompts us to behave like shitkids and made moderating exhausting/difficult, which then in turn prompts moderators to be harsher and so on.

TLDR MODS ARE FUCKIN CUCKS U CANT KEEP A VET DOWN or...

Treat us normally, cut us some slack, and let us practise our cancer culture, and we might move toward a situation where we're more moderate but still contribute to the liveliness of this community. Apart from after 10PM at night, then all bets are off. For the record, I think another TS would be cancer - but I also think that the OG channel should remain a bit of a special, if chaotic place.

Daffy Duck reacted to UnSeen in Be nice to a 2K15er
Congratz on being a 2k15er Rory! It is quite the honorary title!
As a 2k15er you are blessed with being just as aids and cancerous as 2k12ers, 2k13ers and 2k14ers but it's just far less of a hassle to deal with you (unless you've been sneaky and hired 2k13er bodyguards from the OG channel you cheeky chap)!!
You also have the potential of being recognised as a part of the 'vet crew' if you hang around long enough and mooch up to them nicely, the only real requirement is that you must base all of your respect towards individuals based upon the amount of time they've been here (even if they are a cunt!)!!!
Unfortunately as a 2k15er you miss out on perks such as; being able to spam the forums and not actually contribute to fresh threads (while demanding rep?!), disrespecting anyone you please and insisting that the way the admin team handle things isn't right without actually explaining your reasoning or offering better solutions! To an extent you can get away with anything as long as you justify it with 'x is dead, I was just trying to create a bit of fun!' or 'OB shouldn't be a safe space' etc etc.
Stick around and I'm sure the requirements will shift soon and you too can be part of the wonders of being older than a '2k15-er'
