Good times.
Nice to see so many of yous still sticking around, especially the newbies who have stuck around and become oldies. OB has always been strongest on the community side of things, bringing people from both ends of the spectrum together and the fact you guys are still here just proves that point more. Although the jailbreak days were arguably the best, events, mixes, tournaments and just TS convos are probably what I miss the most. It's over yeah, but it's better to be a "turd in some overgrown grass" than a turd washed away in the sewage right?
It’s just dawned on me that no one cares anymore. But it’s also dawned on me that im perfectly okay with that and so is everyone else. Everyone has accepted that we’re basically a turd that when it originally got shat out, it attracted a FUCK load of flies.. but now even the turd has lost it’s flavour and is no longer attractive to flies. Just a turd sitting stale in some overgrown grass. I propose we all get together in one channel one night and all say together in harmony: “it’s over”
how this thread will go now:
danny will post some weird facebook gif no one will understand
someone will attempt to bait someone into making an angry post (likely an OG or Quinn)
mintlou will chime in with a behind the scenes post
random dudes trying to derail with a ‘hehe rawr lulz ultra random i like custard cremes’ post
Not even a secret santa :’(, it’s over
there's two axis of progress that can be made when it comes to 'making ob great again'
1. more activities and community involvement amongst people already here
2. growing the community
attempts at numero uno have been exhaustive and people are getting a little tired of trying to stimulate stuff that isn't gonna happen. the games nights were a good attempt and it really wasn't fair on the people who set their nights aside to manage them for no one to show up, even the people who rspvd. i know i said i'd be there or clicked the little 'going' button to just not show once or twice and im sorry guys.
remember when we are all waiting in anticipation for gtav custom servers with baited breaths thinking they would be our saviour? a server probably could've went up and it probably would've been 'successful' but i honestly dont think it would've done much for us. outbreak is separated into a few distinct interest groups with some overlap but not much. obviously itd be good times for anyone that'd actually want to play the server but outside of that the kind of people it would bring in would disproportionately flow towards a certain group and the staff team would have to quickly be filled with new people to moderate this administratively demanding new server.
if post VooDoo cs:s jailbreak was 'return of the jedi' and cs:go jb 2.0 was 'the phantom menace' then fiverp would undoubtedly be 'the force awakens' landing us knee deep in a sea of zoomers waiting in horror for 'the rise of skidwalker'
think about how the forums would look if there was a fiverp server or something like it, how the teamspeak would look, what the memberbase would look like. this isn't necessarily a bad thing but its a question of whether you'd want it or not, who wants it, how disagreements over the way things would be integrated and managed could be reconciled, where compromise is needed.
you can put up virtually any server on any game you want and grow it. want you cant do is rely solely on conor, cheese, mintlou etc to do it for you or expect it to magically grow and start returning dividends in the form of cool new people who will just wander into teamspeak.
if you want ob to be 'great' again you have to know what 'great' means
once you know what 'great' means you need to do what needs to be done to get there
that being said would anyone like to play any of these with me in the coming week
they're all free, cheap or widely owned, relatively small, easy to run and playable in medium to large groups.

also how about some strategy? civ vi/v, aoe2, sc2, hoi4/paradox games.
It's a long as fuck video, but it certainly opened my fucking eyes a bit on how all it takes is an over exaggeration.
Knowing Better is definitely a lad when it comes to challenging a lot of the bias in History, quite often, you need to take these things with a grain of salt, even Knowing Better needs to be challenged as its the only way evidence can be truly found.
