The music bot is awesome, but the voice quality is dreadful. Also I'm concerned about how we members alert admins to problems. On TS, if one of us poked them, they'd dismiss it as a troll, but if twenty of us poked them at once, they knew it was real and that it needed sorting. If we can sort the voice quality and get a poke plugin, I'm actually okay with discord.

So thought I would make this thread so people can discuss the discord trail, what they like what they dont like and so on. 
 
For me, pros first.
Big bonus to community integration, very easy to talk with other members even while we are in our separate channels.  Likely going to be easier to get other new people to join a discord rather than a team speak. I like the social side of things, you can see what music people are listening to, what games they are playing. All very nice.  Many cool features like auto embedding of links and bots  Cons so far
Biggest one, and potential deal breaker. Voice quality. While it is definitely not bad; coming from using teamspeak for the past like 6 years you really notice it, some people sound really different and others having difficulty getting their mics to pick up correctly and not having background noise. Some people have said we can like, boost the server with premium discord but I for one don't think thats a great solution.   This is purely subjective but I personally do not like the UI very much, teamspeak is much more clear to see who is where and what is going on.  Notification sounds are pretty annoying but having them off isnt great either. Teamspeak notification sounds much more minimal (the tiny ding when someone types) and informative (user left your channel, user disconnected from the server)  Another V large issue, several people including myself have noticed very small amounts of frame lag or stutter in games like CS when discord has been open. All in all, im absolutely committed to seeing out the trail because I think the platform has many benefits but I'm not sold on it just yet. If I can't get used to the voice quality over the course of a week I'd be gunning for a return to the ol' TS.

Yeah Boi - Not the 3900x I originally wanted. Amazon Dicked me over and delayed my order to September. So I picked up the 3700x from Scan instead.

as announced today, 40k is finally, FUCKING FINALLY getting a screen adaptation and it sounds good.
Hearing what they are going for makes a lot of sense for introducing mainstream audiences to a relatable part of the lore. TV series based off the Eisenhorn books, which is much more a detective/crime noir type deal with lots of cosmic horror sprinkled in. Its a little less bonkers 40K but still keep tonnes of the flavor of the setting. Its a really long way off I am sure but I have wanted something like this since I first got into warhammer. 
They got the guy who produced The Man in High Castle working on it so I have high hopes! News article below

Ok im gonna go on a little rant here
Community game nights were discussed in the meeting as a way of bringing the community together in this stagnant phase without a server. There is a quite obvious divide amongst people, not necessarily a bad thing as people have their own friend groups, but for many people to sit in a meeting and agree this would be something everyone was down for but have absolutely fuck all people show up is just abysmal. 
It's one night a week, surely more than the SAME 5 people can make an effort and show up? Okay you can argue that the forest wasn't a f2p/cheap game but we also offered skribblio and the ship before that (plenty of people had free copies) but ended up playing mordhau cos 5 people show up... Im not calling out anyone, people know who shows up and who doesn't. I don't blame Eagle for not putting threads up anymore because people can't be bothered.

Hi All, 
After a "successful" evening of playing The Forest on Friday i have spun up a quick forest dedicated server. The server has 32 slots and is completely standard. Fell free to join and play for as long as you'd like whether that be by yourself or with others. 
I will look to shut the server down around the end of the month or the beginning of next month but I will make another post prior to doing so just in case anyone has any objections to it being shut down.
