Surf Combat

I Wanted to make this topic cause me and other members of the community want a surf combat server for a while.

also i am looking for more maps that are fun/easy for surf combat, i will post some maps that i know that work properly.

I quite like Big Loop, but I'm failing to find the map on the workshop. I'll look again in a bit. I'd love to have a Surf Combat Server to play on, I used to play it loads, but lost the server IP for the one I played on. Would the server be in a deathmatch respawning mode, or a casual style, you die and stay dead mode??

Would love to see a server with a mix of mini-games/surf/bhop/climb on a rotation. Keeps it varied enough so people dont get bored and caters to all tastes

yea would be fun but i dont think its possibile due all the plugins etc.

You have to think about what is going to get players into members for any server to happen.

We've had minigames in the past, we all play them for 3 weeks and then they die. I know we got SonyTwan from our minigame server and that was quite popular. What is the defining factor for minigames? All of the servers are the same. It's the people that get members.

Think about surf. We've got maybe 4 or 5 big surf players who are passionate about playing the game mode already and have done for ages. Not to mention the fact that Weezy & Jak are celebrities in that world. It's their personalities and passion that will bring members.

What I'm saying is that at this time, I think that OB would be better off with a combat surf server rather than minigames.

Keep the maps coming in and make it happen.

I'm unsure what format we should use.

Deathmatch:

+ Able to practise surfing more while on the server

+ Relating to the above point, new surfers don't have to wait ages to get back into it

+ Deathmatch is just kinda fun, can just surf circles with a nova and take people out while surfing

- Encourages camping tele exits/jail to rack up frags

- You don't really care about your team

Vanilla:

+ A real sense of team and rivalry

+ Scoring kills actually matters

+ Typically those who can surf better get the best weapons/locations, which could be seen as a downside by some, but it does give new players encouragement to hone their abilities

+ Less incentive to camp tele exits/jail as you're likely to sit there doing nothing as players with map knowledge can play around this, yes you can still score kills on new players, but people have alternative ways of taking you out

- Bad surfers get punished hard

please no minigames. I can certainly get behind surf.

I think death match could work better because its more encouraging for people I think. Better surfers raping you and you sitting in spec most of the time can be a ball ache.

Weezy is a celebrity amongst the decent surfers on surfheaven, but the surf community is larger than that. The thing about combat surf is you have to keep it populated in a way that you don't when you skillsurf. There's not much difference really between JB with 15-20 people and 25-32, in a way that there definitely is with combat surf. The server would definitely peak and trough, as a warning. If you can keep it populated, then sure.

I'm just saying, there's a reason combat surf doesn't tend to top GT.

Yea i dont know yet what we should do, at this moment i lean more towards deathmatch surf so beginners dont have to wait. This should be discussed if this idea becomes a reality.
