OB's minecraft cycle repeats itself with scary reliability.

1. Minecraft is suggested, everybody loves the idea.

2. Minecraft server is setup and for at least a week entire community is obsessed, with 10-15 person teamspeak channels and anyone not playing minecraft basically being totally excluded from the community

3. Alliances are set up between people and bases start to take form.

4. Going into the second week the first act of grief happens, on purpose or by accident. SOMETHING will happen. (Normally involves fire and Mclovins house) past examples are: le flint and steel, Gaz and Biggles declaring nuclear war on everyone, Mclovins house going on fire mk2, the redwood incident. Gaz drunkely punching the dragon egg and losing it forever.

5. After the initial first grief its only a matter of time, this marks the beginning of the end. People start getting mad and more griefing insues.

6. The final sequence. The community practicly tears itself apart with pointed fingers and "I know you did it though, STOP DENYING IT"

7. 2 weeks later the minecraft server is deserted, vowing never to return to that dark place again we resume to normallity.

8. This process repeats itself every 4-8 months.

Most likely because you posted that, history won't repeat itself. But people will still get bored after playing for more than 2 weeks, even without any initial grief or w/e. The only MC servers which last for ages are the ones which have gamemodes like hunger games, KitPVP, raiding servers etc. since they have a competitive aspect and that keeps people hooked. Creative/survival servers either die or just keep getting new players constantly coming and going

I hosted a successful FTB modpack server for ages, seemed to work fine with the survival aspect of it. Modpack was Attack of the B-Team, which had a lot of super-end game stuff, which I guess kept people coming back until they got it all.

Mk1 is never me, but Mk2... I was fighting those fucking firespitting creatures on top of a hill that kept missing me. I turn around and the whole building is in flames... It was genuinely unintentional
