New JB map (jb_prison_cell)

Hey

I've been working on a few map ideas for a while. Since the news of a jailbreak server I started to work harder on the jailbreak map, now the jailbreak server is up I thought it'd be a good time to show the community this map, discuss the map, get some feedback and get any potential ideas.

All updates on the map will be posted in this thread, I will post images in the second post and all ideas and information in the first. If you want to see what I'm doing/my to do list then I shall have that too.

This map currently has no official theme (like my previous jailbreak map).

This map is currently in beta, version 1

As part of the beta I am collecting information about the map in it's current state in order to fix and balance any issues. Please can you highlight any issues you think the map has

Layout: What do you think about it? Is there any problems with it?

Texture: Are there any misaligned textures? Are any textures too big or small for their area? Where do tiled textures need to be used?

Lighting: What do the colours make you feel? Is it too bright/dark?

Props: Are there too many, too little or just right? Are they interactive enough?

Secrets: Are there too many, too little or just right? Are they too powerful, underpowered or just right?

Games: Do they work as expected? Are there too many, too little or just right?

Lagg: What is your average FPS on the map? Where (on the map) do you get low FPS? Would you consider this FPS acceptable?

Other: Anything else you have to say Glitches, bugs, etc

Known issues

- Push entities such as the diving boards give an error in the console.

- The football materials give an error in the console.

- The football isn't solid to the player and doesn't respond to being knifed.

- The corridor hiding hole has a shading/texture issue.

- The basketball bomb disappears after being taken.

- The skipping laser fades after a few rounds.

Future updates

- Add kevlar in the armoury

- Add a sound to basketball

- Add more props about the map

- Add a skylight in main cell area ceilling

- Change the water texture so it's less grey and the reflections look more real.

- Expand the outside area of the map to have more space and more games.

- Stamp map with Skeff image

- Possible version with OB logos

Armoury - It's simple, has a lot of guns. 2 exits and 1 entrance, maybe it needs more methods to get inside.

Randomiser game - Thanks to mintlou for the idea. This is similar to the randomised game on jb_airship, it will kill one side, but there is a small chance of a few other things happening.

Swimming pool & diving - I got the idea from ba_aeon. The small diving boards may need a bit of work on their jump, and perhaps the whole room needs a bit more colour and decoration

Looks quite good. Just find it a bit depressing to look at, it's not aesthetically pleasing to the eyes but I know it's in it's early stages still so.

I'm not really the best at texturing but if have any ideas of how you'd like it to change let me know. There are one or two areas I feel need more colour and decoration, but I'm pretty happy with most of it.

Areas which I feel might need better textures and decoration are isolation, medic and pool.

Also medic is quite small and so I'm thinking about making it bigger.

When I get the randomiser game that mintlou suggested, I'll post a few more screenshots, especially of the areas mentioned above to get feedback.

I've updated the second post to show all new screenshots. It'd be nice to get feedback, whether you think it's too grey, the wrong type of texture has been used or if it needs more decorations.

Areas I'm specifically unsure about are:

Medic - It's small and I'm unsure about the red/pink lights

Armoury - It's just a room with guns, perhaps it needs something extra.

Pool & diving - It's very grey, I'm thinking that changing the high dive area will help

Isolation - It doesn't really suit the rest of the map textures too well, plus I need to put props around it

The cells - I'm unsure about the layout of the cells, the lower cells are meant to be like a real prison cell and the upper cells I was unsure about, but I like having the showers

Looking good Steff! How long till its completely finished?

I'm not sure, but the to-do list is constantly changing when I work on it

Use tileable textures

Which exact textures are tileable? Are the ones on the wall and ceiling in basketball

And which aren't tiled?
