This is on steam right? First try validating steam files? Or just conntact steam support: https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php They've helped me with similar problems, can be abit slow, but they'll reply. Also a way I've used too fix alot of steam-game related problems is this: Exit Steam entirely. Browse to your Steam installation (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\) Rename the "steamapps" folder to "old_steamapps" Re-launch Steam and re-install the game. Once the installation is complete, test the issue. If this resolves the issue, you may copy the new files into the "old_steamapps" folder and rename it to "steamapps" to restore your other games without re-downloading.

both lol and dota is Free too play, so if you want , it's no harm trying both. (Dota 2 is in beta still but beta access keys are all over the internets, including my inventory) atm I prefer dota 2 =)
