Also, thank you all for sharing your opinions. I agree with most of the reasons you've said against it. I guess IRC is a bit outdated and most people have access to TS.

I do however think a shoutbox would be cool. I've seen people ask for this in other threads and argue for/against it so I won't bother going into it now 8-)
