Not So Heavy 0 Posted August 11, 2012 right so i log on to my computer, about to go on counterstrike, and before i can do anything, it says you've been watching child porn and your computer has been locked, pay £100 to unlock it, but it still let me onto my other accounts, so i just backed up my files and deleted the old account, but has this happened to anyone else, and how do i prevent it happening again? Biggles 44 Posted August 11, 2012 how do i prevent it happening again? Stop watching child porn... But seriously this sounds like you've been hacked if you're being serious, I'd recommend contacting steam and checking the bank account you buy games on Quote Share this post Link to post

Jamie 2,319 Posted August 11, 2012 It's a well known virus/scam. Get some anti-virus and scan your computer. Quote Share this post Link to post
Hatchinthehat 4 Posted August 11, 2012 right. first, why post that here. you just opened yourself to a monumental amount of abuse. which i'm not taking part in. Anyway, that virus is actually quite common and can come from any number of sites dude, i know a few people who've had it and it is a bitch to remove. some have had to wipe there computers to get rid of it. Best way to prevent it is to not open links you don't know, get a good anti virus, all the basic stuff will help prevent it. Quote Share this post Link to post
Shadow 0 Posted August 11, 2012 Avast / Spybot Search & Destroy <-- 2 antivirus / antispyware that I use. Both of them are free to use. Quote Share this post Link to post
Biggles 44 Posted August 11, 2012 Malwarebytes is a good one for a quick free scan, it seems to pick up shit the more popular antiviruses miss Quote Share this post Link to post
IP3NIX 0 Posted August 11, 2012 I recommend AVG Anti Virus Protection. Its completely free and is really good against viruses getting in to your computer and corrupting everything. I've been using it on my desktop for 3 years now and no threats at all, try it out. Quote Share this post Link to post
tweep 3 Posted August 12, 2012 right. first, why post that here. you just opened yourself to a monumental amount of abuse No he isn't - this is a scam, and although one or two might make a joke I think we've all figured out he doesn't actually watch child pornography. which i'm not taking part in. How good of you. I've only ever used one antivirus, and that is AVG free. It has worked for me over the last few years, and I haven't had any problems. I don't know if you have anything installed already, but I'd put something on your computer if you haven't. Just run a few scans or something, and see if you have any threats.
