Jamie 2,319 Posted December 7, 2012 Right, so with this new PC i have an issue with css. My ping is fine outside of it, however when i try to launch it my ping is sky-rocketing to up to 1000ms. Any idea why guys? Quote Share this post Link to post
BubbaFlappies 0 Posted December 7, 2012 Not sure if this has got anything to do with it, but are you on wireless broadband or are you connected with an ethernet cable? I generally relate all of my internet related problems to the wireless if i'm on it. Quote Share this post Link to post
Proxima 1 Posted December 7, 2012 I would try these commands; 56krate 3000 cl_cmdrate 15 cl_updaterate 10 cl_rate 9999 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 112k rate 6000 cl_cmdrate 20 cl_updaterate 15 cl_rate 9999 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 256k rate 9000 cl_cmdrate 25 cl_updaterate 20 cl_rate 9999 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 384k rate 15000 cl_cmdrate 30 cl_updaterate 25 cl_rate 9999 *OR* 15000 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 512k rate 17000 cl_cmdrate 35 cl_updaterate 30 cl_rate 9999 *OR* 17000 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 768k rate 20000 cl_cmdrate 40 cl_updaterate 35 cl_rate 9999 *OR* 20000 cl_cmdbackup 2 _ 1MB+ rate 23000 cl_cmdrate 45 cl_updaterate 40 cl_rate 9999 *OR* 23000 cl_cmdbackup 2 I've had this problem as well about a year ago. So I tried lots of things, and I made a "back-up" of the solution. These commands depend on the internet you are using. I guess you got 1MB+, so you should try the last one. (the blue one) Mostly I would recommend to check for spyware, but since it's a new pc.. Perhaps clean as well a bit on the PC. there might be programs installed which use a lot of bandwidth, without you noticing. When I had my PC there was tons of shit (Acer-related stuff) installed, which took tons of my bandwidth.. Quote Share this post Link to post
Jamie 2,319 Posted December 7, 2012 There is nothing using up bandwidth as far as I know, my ping is completely fine outside of CSS, I view game info of someone on PB when outside of CSS and its constant 30, how it should be. I have tried joining CSS then the ping sky rockets to about 100-1000. Yes I'm using wireless card, but I doubt that's the actual issue. I'm running windows 7. I've tried temporarily disabling firewall and anti-virus, didn't help. I tried your fix prox, didnt work. I am currently in process of reinstalling CSS I tried connecting to server once through the game tracker bar on the website, but it took forever and I didn't see what my ping was before that. Biggles 44 Posted December 7, 2012 Type in net_graph 3 whilst on the server and tell us what your choke is Quote Share this post Link to post
Jamie 2,319 Posted December 7, 2012 If I could get on the server, nothing downloads l0l I looked up on google that people were having issues with gaming on windows 7, particularly valve games, where ping would be sky high and choke is ridiculous. Im going to attempt a fix when I get home. Quote Share this post Link to post
Tiny 16 Posted December 7, 2012 23k rates are shit, i really hope you don't have to resort to them. Have you tried an ethernet connection, just in case? At least then you'd know whether it was the wireless or not. Quote Share this post Link to post
Jamie 2,319 Posted December 7, 2012 If I could switch to Ethernet i would, dogs chewed through the cable /hangself Quote Share this post Link to post
Tiny 16 Posted December 7, 2012 Awwww! I just meant try it - if it works, then you know it's definitely something to do with the wireless. Can they resist chewing for 10 minutes or so? Quote Share this post Link to post
Jamie 2,319 Posted December 7, 2012 No, te damage is already done is what I meant Quote Share this post Link to post
Jake <3 0 Posted December 7, 2012 Jamie, try a few other games, to help isolate the problem. Try out TF2. If it works, CSS is the problem. If it doesn't, Source / PC in general is the problem. After that, try out a non-Source engine game that displays ping, and see if the issue persists. Quote Share this post Link to post
Jamie 2,319 Posted December 8, 2012 Ethernet seems to have fixed the issue although I still had shit speeds. Removed power saving mode on my Ethernet drivers and speeds increased. Quote Share this post Link to post
