Personally i either resize the image or upload both a thumbnail and the original:

Wrap a url tag around the image.

So:

[url=original-image.jpg]
  [img]thumbnail-image.jpg
    [/img]
  [/url]

I'm fully with the addition of an image resizer.

When ever you have a large image posted in a thread, the entire thread is shifted outside of the background image

(The background image is the darker color on the page with a couple of effects, compared to the grey background)

I think that is is happening because we have a fixed background image when loops vertically.

The easiest fix is having an automatic image resizer rather than changing the background and/or having to make the background change with respect to the picture.

I for one find it extremely annoying having to move left and right on a page to read the text (The text won't go to a new line when for a fixed number of characters as the image changes how much a "line" can hold ) and then realign the page to read the other part of the text.
