how to begin mapping?

does anyone have any good tutorials on how to begin mapping?

i'm fairly new to counter strike but have made adventure maps for minecraft and want to step it up a notch(see what i did there). i know the two aren't comparable but i have the creativity and god knows i have the time to create a decent map.

That guy is good indeed. I've watched all his vids, very good how he explains them. For example the vid he got where he shows what happens/and how to do it. About raising fps.

He explains hint, portal, really good.
