Spoiler One book I'm really engrossed in right now is "The State of Africa" by Martin Meredith right now, its a pretty comprehensive study of Africa from post-colonial times about how Africa's problems were created from the circumstances of their independence or to the leaders that led. One good part of the book sheds a significant light on the Zaire/Congo using interviews and insider knowledge. Definitely worthy of a read, though unless your a complete economic fetishist, it does have a significant chapter talking about imports/exports of raw material of africa, so just make of that as you will.
