Blyss 975 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) 53 minutes ago, Oldmike said: noh baiterino “Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into consideration: • the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand) • the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball) • the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement • touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement • hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an infringement” - FIFAs 2017/2018 rule book. Cedric jumps with his arm up and EYES CLOSED, gets pushed down by the Iranian player which hits the ball STRAIGHT DOWN into Cedrics arm that is like 50cm away from it. It was not intentional and therefore not a penalty. I've seen this happen a thousand times but in a world cup is ridiculous. VAR has been a joke, we got robbed against Spain (Costa kills Pepe, VAR still says its a goal), Morocco got robbed against Portugal (we were literally playing basketball but ok) and now this. All VAR is doing is delaying the game and making everyone dive and overreact as soon as they get touched. The negatives are overshadowing the positives, they need to be more strict with it and they also need to get better referees cuz idfk how these blind swines got a job. source: https://resources.fifa.com/mm/document/footballdevelopment/refereeing/02/90/11/67/lawsofthegame2017-2018-en_neutral.pdf (page 98) Edited June 25, 2018 by Blyss Quote Share this post Link to post

Oldmike 369 Posted June 26, 2018 @Blyss There is no way the negatives are outweighing to positives when it comes to var so far. The refs aren't going to look at the footage with every single faul, that would be unreasonable. It's a completely new system, we need to give it time. Also, it's not as if people weren't already overreacting as soon as they got touched. About the penalty, Bas Nijhuis (a fifa/uefa ref) said that his hands were not in a natural position roughly next to his body and therefore you can in fact give a penalty. Which i find totally reasonable. Cedric SAW the ball coming directly towards him and lifted his arms up anyways. He only turns his head away when the ball is 40 cm ish away from him so it's not as if he didnt see the ball coming. You do not only give penalties when it's a deliberate act of handling the ball, you are not supposed to swing your arms around like that, especially in the penalty area. You know the risk. Grey area nonetheless. 1 Kai reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post
